Napoleon Bonaparte Howard was the son of George Washington Howard and Sereptha Williams. George Washington Howard was the son of Elizabeth Muse and Benjamin Franklin Howard.

Napoleon Bonaparte Howard and Mary Smith were married on 25 Sep 1878 in San Augustine Co., TX. They became the parents of several children:

1. Georgia Ann Howard Ward, b June 1880, San Augustine Co., TX (census), d. 1918 d 13 Apr 1918, Oakdale, Allen Parish, LA, burial unknown (LA Deaths index). Married James "Jim" Ward. Divorced before 1910. He is buried in Wood cemetery.

2. Louis Franklin "Frank" Howard: b 19 Mar 1883, San Augustine Co., TX, d 2 May 1955, Find A Grave 19577519.

3. Amanda Howard b April 23, 1885 d June 23, 1970 married Henry Casey (ref: their son's obit). Amanda is probably buried Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, McClendon Co., TX but not yet on Find A Grave.

Mary Smith Howard died sometime before 1888.

Napoleon Bonaparte Howard then married Anna Victoria Barnes on 4 July 1888. Anna was the daughter of Edwin Dickerson and Sarah Barnes. They became the parents of the following children:

2. William "Willie" Howard: b Jul 10, 1892 San Augustine Co, TX - d Sep 12, 1910 TX. Age 18 years. Wood Cemetery, San Augustine Co., TX.

3. Martin Luther Howard: b 1895 TX - 1972 TX. Wood Cemetery, San Augustine Co., TX.

4. Minnie Ola (or Mineola) Howard: Jul 1, 1897 TX - Jan 2, 1980 TX. Marr Everett White. Wood Cemetery, San Augustine Co., TX.

9. Margrett Howard b abt 1910 (1920 Sabine Co., TX census) and/or Jewel (female) Howard: b abt Oct 1909 TX (1910 Jasper Co. census). This might be Maguerite Howard Bratton buried Wood Cemetery.

10. Clara Howard: b Feb 8, 1914 - d May 10, 1914. Infant. Wood Cemetery, San Augustine Co, TX.

The 1930 San Augustine Co., census found Napoleon living with Jennie Powell, servant, and her three children, Mina, Herman R., and Odell. One might interpret from the 1930 census record that they were his children, but this is doubtful, because the 1940 San Augustine Co. census found Jennie living with her husband, Harman Powell, with their children Harman and Odelle.

The following information appears on his death certificate: Middle name spelled "Bonapart", b 16 Oct 1858 d 26 Apr 1930, Brookeland, Sabine Co., TX.
