Robert L Clack starred in the early B-Western Movies and TV westerns under the name Bobby Clark. His interest in roping began after attending the Oklahoma-Arkansas rodeo in Ft. Smith. He first performed in 1932 at the age of 6 in Springfield, MO. On July 4, 1938, he was discovered by a Monogram talent scout at a Junior Chamber of Commerce rodeo in Sulphur, OK. With his horse, Chief, Bobby Clark appeared that year at Madison Square Garden where he captured the World Champion Trick Roping title. He had a knack for roping as well as shooting with a .22 rifle and .38 special six-shooter. Among his feats was the spinning of four loops simultaneously, employing his mouth, arms and hips.

That same year he co-starred in his first acting role with Jack Randall in "Trigger Smith". At the age of 12, he co-starred with Bill Elliott in Columbia's "Overland With Kit Carson". He went on to appear in Cheyenne, at the 17 day Chicago Stadium Rodeo, the Sheriff's Rodeo in L.A. and gave an exhibition with Hoot Gibson during the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus of 1939. There were hundreds more and while in Hollywood, Bobby boarded his horse, Chief at Tom Mix's ranch.

His friendship with Bill Elliott remained close over the years and they performed together on a three month personal appearance tour of eastern states in conjunction with the serial's release. In 1948 they worked together at a special show in Hollywood and in 1949 in Phoenix, AR., among others. In 1940, at the age of 14, he starred in the film, "Sagebrush Family Trails West", then finished his schooling in Poteau, OK and moved to Ft Smith.

He served his country in the Army during World War II and returned to Hollywood where he worked in at least six post-war films with Gene Autry including "Beyond The Purple Hills" and many TV shows. Gene Autry commissioned 3 solid gold rings with a large saddle sitting in the middle; one for himself, one for Bobby Clark and one for Bobby's father who was his manager.

In 1946 Bobby married Iona Ruth Lee of Idaho Falls, ID. The following year he toured with Allan Lane and continued his rodeo work. In 1949, he had a prominent role in Sunset Carson's "Rio Grande" and in 1954 he was in Republic's cliffhanger, "Man With The Steel Whip".

Robert Clack and his family settled in Parkdale, OR. at the foot of Mount Hood where he lived till his death.
