In December of 1862 Sarah Ann was almost three months old and living with her parents, Moses Clawson and Sarah Ann Inkley Clawson, in Springville Utah. She had five older (Georgiana, Joseph, Samuel, Lola and Charles Moses) siblings. Moses was called to settle Virgin City in southern Utah. Sarah was concerned about the health of her younger children especially Sarah Ann, who was only 3 months old, so she had a doctor look at them, he said they were well enough to make the trip. On December 18 Sarah Ann died of whooping cough and they took the body with them to Virgin City. They arrived in Virgin City Christmas eve, Lola Ann was very sick with whooping cough and died on 26 December. Both girls were buried in Virgin City cemetery.
