THE PARIS NEWS, May 21, 2004: “Leon Haddock, 87, of Paris died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in Paris Healthcare Center. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, in Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Haddock officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born on Oct. 16, 1916, in Sulphur Springs, the son of Luther A. and Myrtle Ethyl Boss Haddock. He served in the Pacific theater during World War II on the USS Blackhawk as a Seaman First Class. He married Lucile Conder on Oct. 12, 1969, in Paris. He retired as a mechanic with America Box Company after many years of service. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church of Paris. He was a man who enjoyed life and the people he met and the love of his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on July 12, 2002; a step-daughter, Sharon Boyd Vallier; and a grandson, Todd Vallier. Survivors include his children, the Rev. Gene Haddock of Denison, Carol Boyd Olsen of Paris, James W. Boyd Jr. of San Angelo and Joe Boyd of Sparks, Nev.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. If desired, the family suggests memorials to The American Cancer Society.”
On the same stone with Lucile Haddock. Also has a military marker inscribed, “S 1 US Navy World War II.”
