Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Connie was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Mason City, Iowa, to Bonita and Ivan Prusia. An only child, she followed her father’s career in retailing. The family moved across the Midwest as her father was promoted.
In 1941, she graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Neb., and then went to Williams Woods College in Fulton, Mo. A bachelor’s degree was earned as well as graduate courses at Ohio State University. She then attended Juilliard School of Music as a graduate student.
Connie Prusia and F. Dee Stark were married in 1949, in Burlington, Iowa. They moved to Amarillo in 1954, to open Stark’s Pen and Card shop in downtown Amarillo. In 1960, they moved to Wolflin Village and became Stark’s Wrap & Gift Shop until 1977.
Connie Stark became a realtor in 1968 and opened Connie Stark Realtors in 1977. Her husband, Dee Stark, joined her in this endeavor at that time.
Through the years as president of Connie Stark Realtors, Connie was selected to serve on many committees and chaired same as well as being named Realtor of the Year in 1984.
She was an active member of First Christian Church for more than 60 years, having served on the official board for many years teaching Sunday school and children’s choir director.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a great-grandchild, Evie Bonifield.
Survivors include three children, Greg Stark and wife Nancy, Brad Stark, and Tamara Bonifield and husband Hugh; six grandchildren, Tiffany Stark, Blair Stark and wife Lonnie Phillips, Brooks Stark, Mitchell Stark, Taylor Faught and husband Jeff and Miles Bonifield and wife Berklye; and four great-grandchildren, Brayden, Attison, Liam and Brixton.
The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church or Evie’s Foundation at Hope and Healing, with a memo to Our Children’s Blessings, 1721 S. Tyler St., Amarillo, TX 79102.
