Funeral services were held Feb. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, with the Rev. Judith Johnson officiating. Burial was in St. Peter Cemetery, Vermillion.
Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion, was in charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 9, 1916, at Clay County to John and Christine (Hanson) Olson. He attended Prairie Center Rural School. He farmed and was a rural mail carrier for 23 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant from 1942-45. He married Hazel Swee on July 18, 1942, at Rantoul, IL. They moved into Vermillion in 1968 from rural Burbank. His wife died Feb. 4, 1998.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion. He enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by two sons, Darwin (Linda) Olson, Franklin, TN, and Erlan (JoAnn) Olson, Burbank; two daughters, Karen Olson, Meckling, and Miriam Olson, Elbern, IL; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Clara Olson, Vermillion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters and one brother.
