Mrs. Annie Eliza Bondurant, widow of the late James R. Bondurant, of
Martinsville, passed away today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. M.
Porterfield, in Roanoke, following a lingering illness. Born and reared near
Mountain Valley, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Allen of
Martinsville.
Upon her marriage she moved to Martinsville to reside, and she spent nearly 50
years of her life here. In recent years she had resided with her daughter in
Roanoke. Surviving are nine children: Rorer J. Bondurant, Cleveland, Ohio; Hugh
P. Bondurant, Akron, Ohio; Jim Bob Bondurant, Coytesville, N. J.; William S.
Bondurant, Edgewater, N.J.; Mesdames William W. McElrath and J. M. Porterfield
of Roanoke; Muscoe C. Holland, Edgewater, N. J.; Lincoln Mackey, Arlington and
Julian B. Kester, Martinsville. Four sisters, Mesdames J. D. Jones and Joe
Hairfield of Axton; G. E. Bondurant of Danville and J. H. Stultz, Martinsville
and one brother, P. L. Allen of Axton, also remain. The body was brought to
Martinsville today and will be kept at the McKee Funeral Home until tomorrow
when funeral services will be held there followed by interment in Oakwood
