Jackie Doyle "Rooster" McClure, 86, a retired air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 29, 2010.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday in Moore Memorial Gardens.
Mr. McClure was a native and lifelong Fort Worth resident. He was born July 20, 1923, and graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1942. Following graduation, he, along with many of his high school buddies, enlisted in the United States Navy. Rooster was a proud Navy pilot and served his country during both World War II and the Korean War. Between his two stints in the Navy, Mr. McClure earned a bachelor of science degree from Texas Christian University. He remained an avid Horned Frogs fan and TCU supporter for the rest of his life.
Rooster was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Veta McClure; parents, Otis Allen McClure and Ruby Doyle McClure; and brother; Ben McClure.
The family wishes to express profound gratitude to Yolanda Beverly, her children, Shakayla and Marcus, and their entire family for their years of selfless service and devoted and tender loving care.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Tarrant County Humane Society.
Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Laurie McClure of Colleyville; beloved grandchildren, Max, Alex and Madison McClure; brother, Otis McClure; and extended family Russell and DeDe Grizzard and children, Mike and Jessica and their children.
