Augusta A. (Sittig) Engelhardt was the daughter of Conrad A. Sittig (1860-1928) who was born and died in Wahles, Schmalkalden-Meiningen, Thueringen, Germany; and Caroline (Bauman) Sittig (1839-1915) who was born in Farnau, Germany and died in Bingham Lake, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. Caroline Sittig came to the United States in 1888, after her husband had died as she had children who had already immigrated there.

Augusta was the oldest of the following known siblings:

Bernard Sittig 1864-1930
Richard Sittig 1868-1956
Louise Sittig 1870-1930
Matilda "Tillie" Sittig 1872-
Margaret Sittig 1875-1948

Augusta married Edward George Engelhardt in about 1881 in Germany. They immigrated to the United States in 1884 after their first child was born in Germany. They had the following known children:

Otto Edward Engelhardt 1882-1965
Fred William August Engelhardt 1884-1960
Amelia Engelhardt 1887-1933
Albert Edward Engelhardt 1887-1976
Edward Otto Engelhardt 1889-1956
Richard Walter Engelhardt 1891-1891
Oscar G. Engelhardt 1893-1920
Mabel Augusta Matilda Engelhardt 1895-1985

The Engelhardt family lived in McLean County, Illinois, in the 1900 census. In 1910, they lived in Mount Erie Township of Wayne County, Illinois.

Edward and Augusta divorced sometime between 1910 and 1920. In the 1920 census, Augusta Engelhardt was living with their youngest daughter Mabel (Engelhardt) Kiel in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois, and her marital status was listed as divorced. Within the next 8 years, she apparently moved to South Dakota as she died May 29, 1928, in Sanborn County, South Dakota (according to the South Dakota Death Index, Certificate 117658) and was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Sioux Falls in Minnehaha County, South Dakota.

In the 1920 census, Edward Engelhardt was listed as a boarder with a Mahlo family in Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois. Edward died in this location and was buried in Park Hill Cemetery near Bloomington, Illinois.
