Gertrude Mae Newton, 101, formerly of Pleasant Valley Road in Portersville, died Wednesday evening at Autumn Grove Care Center, Harrisville.
Born April 29, 1906, in Slippery Rock, she was the daughter of Orange Noble and Hallie Heckathorne Studebaker.
She had been a cook at Eppinger's Restaurant for 15 years.
Mrs. Newton was a member of Presbyterian Church of Portersville and Portersville Keenagers senior group.
She enjoyed cooking and handiwork such as stitching and crocheting. She also enjoyed gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Newton, who died Dec. 11, 1991. A brother and a sister also preceded her in death.

NEWTON — Friends of Gertrude Mae Newton, who died Wednesday, July 25, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Presbyterian Church of Portersville with the Rev. Dana Opp officiating. Burial will follow at Presbyterian Church of Portersville Cemetery.
