Bert was born in Glendale, Iowa to Charles and Christine Hansen Bloomquist. He married Laurel O. Watson in Fairfield on July 30,1936. She died June 28, 1979. Bert was survived by a son, Louie G.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, John, Earl and Robert; and a sister, Eva. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Michael, Jesse, Alex, Carl, Benjamin and Leonard; and six sisters, Christine, Ellen, Anna, Mary, Ida and Teckla;
