Deceased Name: Roald Emerson Peterson
WEST POINT -- Roald Emerson Peterson, 74, of West Point, died Friday, August 8, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born July 14, 1929, in Snowflake, Arizona, to Joseph Peterson and Lydia Savage.

He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Eastern Canada and in 1952 married Luana Field in the Salt Lake Temple.

He graduated from BYU in 1955 and entered the Air Force as a pilot. He served his country for many years and worked at Hill Air Force Base in Flight Safety before retiring from civil service and the Air Force Reserve.

He served a church leadership mission with his wife in Malaysia and Pakistan and was serving at the Ogden Temple until the time of his death. He held many church callings throughout his life including Bishop and Stake President.

He was an active member of the Back Country Horsemen of Utah and served on the board of the Air Force Museum.

He is survived by his brothers, Charles, Leon, Levi and his sisters, Wanda Tenney and Mary Ray. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Luana, his children: Roald Jr. (Toad) and Nola, Heidi and Steven Rock, Kathy and Mike Mock, Dawn and Randall Wright, Erin and Cliff Jensen, Mignon (Bou) and Ken Probst, 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at West Point Lakeside Stake Center, 855 North 4000 West. Family and friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist"s Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
