He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Heber W. & Henrietta Flem Cooper on January 23, 1913.
He married Melva Johnson on July 23, 1934. Later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1949. Melva died November 4, 2005.
Andy worked at Geneva Steel for over twenty-eight years. He retired in 1972 as a foreman of the Geneva Works Central Maintenance Railroad Car Repair Shop. Andy loved his country. He was proud to be an American. He always planted a huge garden to share with family, friends and ward members. Fishing was his favorite pass time. Andy was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his three children, Elaine (Mark) Farrer, Orem, Utah; Coleen Woodhouse, Weaverville, CA; and Jack (Pattie) Cooper, Mapelton, Utah. He leaves behind a large posterity of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Melva, daughter, DeAne Cooper, grandaughters, Natalie Farrer, Cristy Cooper, grandsons, Crayton Jensen, Todd Jensen, and son-in-law, Kent Woodhouse.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010 in the Sharon Second Ward Chapel, 641 South 400 East, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may call on Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, and Saturday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the Church.
Interment will be held in the Orem City Cemetery.
