Hulda was born the 9th of 11 children on the family farm in Saline county, Nebraska. Of her 10 siblings, 9 were brothers. Her sister, Hattie, did not marry.

Hulda was baptized as an infant, in 1904, at Zion Lutheran Church also in rural Saline County, Nebraska. She was confirmed there in 1918. One of Hulda's older brothers, John, had become a Lutheran school teacher and had taken the position of principal of the St. John Lutheran School in 1926. Hulda visited and stayed with them off and on and it became acquainted with Fritz Obermueller. They were married on September 9, 1928 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hulda's home church. They returned to Lincoln to farm and remained faithful members of Saint John Lutheran Church south of Lincoln until their deaths. They had two children: Melvin and Helen Kay.

Hulda Obermueller
Mrs. Hulda Obermueller was born to Henry and Marie Bartels near Tobias, Neb., on April 18, 1904. A protracted illness of 3½ years necessitated many periods of hospitalization. She was once again a patient at the Lincoln County Hospital, where she had for a few years served as an aide, when she was called to her eternal home on Oct. 31, 1966, at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 13 days.
Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in her home church at Tobias, Neb., she became affiliated with St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln, Kan., took an active part, and also served in the Dorcas in several offices. On Sept. 9, 1928, she was united in marriage to Fred Obermueller and resided since then at the farm home north of Lincoln. She was also active in community endeavors and a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Her passing is mourned by the widowed husband, Fred, of the home; a son, Melvin, and a daughter, Helen (Mrs. Wayne) Bolte, both of Lincoln; a sister, Hattie Bartels, Tobias Neb.; seven brothers, John Bartels of Topeka, Kan.; and Edwin, Emil, Ernest, Henry, Paul and Theodore, all of Tobias; by four grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
