Mr. Otis Edward Evans, Jr., age 81, of Douglasville, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010. He was born on April 3, 1929 in Forsyth County, Georgia, son of the late Otis Edward Evans, Sr. and the late Rilouse Latham Evans.
He retired from automobile sales a few years ago and was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Calvary Church of God in Douglasville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Sammy Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Vehling Evans, of Douglasville; children and their spouses, Jimmy and Kim Evans of Douglasville, Debbie and Phil Keaton of North Port, Florida, Patsy and Allen Norton of Austell, Donna and Randy Locke of Douglasville, Cindy and Derrick Goolsby of Douglasville; Stepchildren and their spouses, Rita and Eric Sauer, Rick and Lisa Meier, Lela and Bryan Jones all of Powder Springs, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the Calvary Church of God in Douglasville with Pastor Randy Locke and Reverend Phil Keaton officiating. Mr. Evans will be placed in state at the church at 1:00 pm.
Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park in Smyrna with grandsons: Justin Locke, Randall Bowen, Evan Jones, Ricky Meier, Josh Evans, and Ryan Evans serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Hightower's Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 26, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm.
