Winston B. Coffman

ARDMORE Graveside service with military honors provided by Fort Sill, for Winston B. Coffman, 96, Ardmore, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Rose Hill Cemetery with Harley Davidson officiating.

Mr. Coffman died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in Ardmore.

Arrangments are under direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, Ardmore.

Son of William B. Coffman and Alma Pauline Brunt Coffman, Winston, was born Oct. 6, 1913, at Ardmore.

A graduate of Ardmore High School, Winston also attended the University of Oklahoma. He and the former Bernice Wilkes were married March 15, 1940, at Ardmore. Bernice preceded him in death Dec. 27, 1959. During World War II, Winston served in the U. S. Army, Company A of the 91st Chemical Mortar Battalion. He was in the battle of the Ardennes, the Rhineland and of Central Europe and was awarded the European African Mediterranean Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Service Medal. He was honorably discharged Nov. 7, 1945. Following his military service, Winston became an oil and gas lease broker and continued that activity until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Church of Christ, was a 64-year member of Post 65 of the American Legion, was a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen, the Ardmore Rod and Gun Club and Lake Ardmore Club Association.

Survivors include his two daughters and their husbands: Nancy and Dr. Gary Wilson, Edmond; and Margaret and James Gibson, Lawton; four grandchildren and their spouses: Dan and Dana Wilson, Teri and Eric Johnson, Emily and Scott Snowden and Andy and Dawn Gibson; great-grandchildren include: Hannah, Olivia, Seth, Claire and Jesse Winston Wilson, Chase and Weston Johnson, Anna and Joshua Gibson and Matthew Snowden; and nephews: David Norman Wilkes and J. Lawrence Wilkes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and an aunt, Ruby Coffman.
