Max Baker, Building Contractor, Dies Here, Stilwell, Oklahoma.
Max Oden Baker. Slilwell building contractor, died Monday morning at Stilwell Municipal Hospital a short time after he suffered a heart attack at his home, 610 N. Tirst St.
He was 73 years old. Baker had been in failing health for several months, although he had remained active until recent weeks. He was born April 14, 1900. in Arkansas and came to Stilwell in about 1935 to work as a construction superintendent on the Stilwell Post Office building. He told friends later that he liked Stilwell so well he decided to make his home here. Baker was the building contractor on many business buildings, school buildings and private homes in the Adair County area.

He was member of the First Baptist Church, Stilwell, and the Stilwell Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Vera Baker of the home; one son. Gordon Max Baker, Rionisto, Tex.; one daughter, Maxine Kemp, Dardanelle, Tex.; and three sisters, Vera Tanner and Bess McClain, both of Malvern. Ark., and Lena Robbins. Monette, Arkansas.

Services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Roberts Funeral Chapel. Graveside rites will be held today (Thursday) in the Rockport Cemetery near Malvern.
