It's said that James married Margaret Irwin in 1783, but only two children are attributed to them: Elizabeth (1798-1870) and John (1800-1872). Can it be that they waited fifteen years before having children or are there several unaccounted for? They moved to Kentucky in 1784 and to Ohio twenty-four years later. I suspect there were older children who may have stayed in Kentucky.
It has been determined that John's descendants are of Y-DNA haplogroup I-Z138. This marker goes straight up the fatherline. Eligible male Hogue descendants should tests. I'm happy to provide information about that.
