Former Seymour Minister Expires in New Albany

The Rev. E. R. Vest, Former Pasor at First Methodist Church Dies of Paralysis.

The Rev. E. R. Vest, aged sixty-six years, former pastor of the First Methodist church here, died Sunday at the home of his daughter in New Albany. He had been in New Albany for several weeks and was stricken with paralysis last week. His condition was alarming from the time he was taken ill, although it was believed Friday that he was slightly improved.

Mr. Vest was born in Scott County. He lived there during boyhood attending the common schools. He was graduated from DePauw University and entered the Methodist ministry. He served some of the largest churches in the Indiana conference, but was compelled to retire about ten years ago because of failing health. Mrs. Vest died a year ago.

The Rev. Mr. Vest was widely known in Methodist church circles in Indiana. He leaves two daughters, one of whom is Mrs. R. O. Mayes, of Columbus, and several grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Tuesday with burial in Riverview cemetery in this city.
