Francis A. LaPorte, 81, well known pioneer resident of Inverness township, died Sat.
morning at the Community Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. He has been confined to the hospital for the past month. Born in Inverness township on
February 19, 1885, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis LaPorte, he has always made Cheboygan his home. 1909 he married Delina Gouine, who passed away two years later. On July 3, 1916 he married Miss Selina Provo. After the closing of the
Tannery where he was employed for several years, he owned and operated a farm in Inverness.

Besides his wife he is survived by his sons and daughters: Miss Christine LaPorte of Caro, Mrs. Arnold Charboneau (Ursula) of Cheboygan, Mrs. Raymond LaHaie (Aynetta) of Almont, Mrs. Flemming Chasse (Delina) of Detroit, Mrs. Dale Charboneau
(Avis) of Clarkston, Mrs. Chas. Stitt (Corinne) of Jackson, Francis B. of Jackson, Matthew of Almont, and Charles of Cheboygan. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, one brother Jude of Hollywood, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the N.J. Christian Funeral Home. Services were held Tuesday morning at 9 0'clock at St. Charles Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Published in the Cheboygan Observer, Friday May 20, 1966, Page 3.
