William Lackey was the son of Greenberry Lackey, Sr. and Mary Harlow. William was married to Susan P. Rogers. He, his wife, and a small child, Harvey are buried in Mount Gilead Cemetery on the Bass Ranch near Dexter, Texas. The cemetery is not fenced and is lost among the trees and briars. Susan, Harvey and William all died within a few months of each other. William is the only one with a marker. The marker is a sandstone rock with "W.M. Lackey died 1873" scratched in the stone. Children of William and Susan: Mary Jane Lackey, Moses S. Lackey, William "Lee", Andrew Jackson Lackey, Katharine Pernecie "Necie" Lackey, Nancy Ella "Ellie" Lackey, and Harvey.
