Cecil L. Boyd, age 85, passed away peacefully April 28, 2010 after a short battle with kidney cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born october 15, 1924 in Yuma, CO the second child of Charles and Aphrodite Boyd. At six months of age his family relocated to the Mission Valley in Montana. Cecil grew up and attended school in Ronan, MT.

Our father was a member of the greatest generation. He served in the Army for five years during World War II and served in the 3rd Army 89th Division in Europe and in the Austrian Occupation and Military Government. While stationed in Gmunden, Austria he met his wife, Ingeborg Pasnocht, in 1945. The married July 9, 1947 in Vorchdorf, Austria. After his discharge from the Army, they moved to Corvallis, OR where he attended Oregon State University and participated in the ROTC Program. He graduated with a BS degree in mechanical engineering and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant at Fort Lewis after graduation.

He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Oregon State Alumni Association, and a huge Beaver fan.

The Boyds moved to Richland on August 2, 1951. Cecil worked for General Electric, Battelle Northwest and Westinghouse Hanford as a mechanical engineer and manager. During part of his career at Hanford, he worked on the Fast Flux Test Facility (FFTF). He retired January 1, 1986.

He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed pheasant and chukar hunting with his faithful Gordon Setter dogs (Choice and Mac). Cecil loved to fish and couldn't wait for his backpacking trips to lake Victoria.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 1/2 years Inge and daughter-in-law Robin Boyd. Cecil leaves behind daughters Karin (Ray) Moss of Moses Lake, Linda (Dick) Arnot of Kennewick, and Ava (Bill) Lauby of Mukilteo; sons Gerald (Laura) Boyd of Kennewick; and John (Lisa) Boyd of Boise, ID; grandchildren Brian and Darren Moss, Meghan and Cameron Boyd, Alexis Boyd, David Boyd, and Kathleen Runnell; and great-grandchildren Tyrrell and Symone Runnells, and Aria Boyd. He is survived by his sisters and brothers Grace Buckner, Phyllis (Fred) Drebes, David (Delilah) Boyd, Walter (Donna) Boyd, Iris (Roy) Carlson, Leslie (Charles) Moyer and Ron (Liliya) Boyd. In addition, he leaves behind many special nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted sunday, May 2nd at 12:00pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland.
