"Erma Reiss, 94, of Lone Tree, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997, at Lone Tree Health Care Center.

Born June 1, 1903, in Woodhall, Ill., she was the daughter of Edwin and Edith Huffman Hall. On June 9, 1937, she married Harry Reiss in Lone Tree.

Mrs. Reiss was a 1926 graduate of the University of Iowa. She taught school at Whiskey Hollow in rural Louisa County, Monticello, Clinton, Tipton, Wapello and Blue Grass.

She was a member of Past Matron's Club, The Fremont Homemakers, Lone Tree Women's Relief Corps, White Shrine of Davenport, Iowa City Women's Club, Iowa City Arts Circle, Johnson County Republican Women, 2,000-hour volunteer of University of Iowa Hospital, 50-year charter member of TTT of Lone Tree and 50-year member of Eastern Star.

Survivors include three daughters, Edith Pfeffer of Clinton, Mary Cavanah of Burlington and Ethel Bean of Stamford, Conn.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, infant son and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Sorden Funeral Home in Lone Tree.

The funeral for Mrs. Reiss will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree, with the Rev. Ann Rouse officiating. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
