D. Franklin Brewer, Civil war veteran, who was connected for many years with the E. R. Ulrich Grain company, died at 10:20 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. C. Gardiner, South Henrietta street, aged 83 years, 6 days. Mr. Brewer was born near Westchester, Butler county, O., April 26, 1842. He was a veteran of the civil war, having served for three years in the Eleventh Ohio battery and had been a resident of this city for over fifty years. He just recently returned from Biloxi, Miss.

He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. E. H. Harriman, Mrs. Chloe Ayer, Mrs. Howard L. Gehlman, Mrs. S. C. Gardiner, all of this city and Mrs. William Fetzer of Peoria, and his sons, A. P. Brewer of Chicago, and W. E. Brewer of Quincy, and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the residence of Mrs. Gardiner. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
