James S. Alu, of Vestal N.Y., and previously from Pittston, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2009, at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, N.Y. His wife, the former Anna Beseda, passed away on December 29, 2002. He was born on January 7, 1914, in Pittston, a son of the late Carmella and Anthony Alu. He was a self-employed shoemaker for Jordan National Shoe Repair in Wilkes-Barre for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony and Sam; and sister Rosalie Randazzo. He is survived by his daughter Carmella Kiziz, Endwell, N.Y.; son Anthony and his wife, Marsha Alu, Plains Township; grandchildren Christopher and Jennifer Kizis; Liza and Roland Herrmann, Ricky Kizis; Stephen and Dawn Kizis; Jeffrey and Nora Alu; Tanya and Charles Hurst; great-grandchildren, Haley and Jansen Herrmann; Austin, Kelsy and Alyssa Kizis, Jack Hurst, Noah Kizis; brothers, John and Carmen Alu, both of Pittston; sister, Grace Naples, Delaware; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with calling hours Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rocco's R.C. Church, Pittston, Pa. will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville, Pa. Funeral services are under the care of the Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 700 Township Blvd., Pittston Township, Pa. 18640
