Caleb C. was a devout Christian minister, and an amiable conscientious man. He was drowned in Seneca Lake, Aug 16, 1850, by the upsetting of a boat. Attempting to cross to Hector Falls in a sail boat with two young ladies, a flaw of wind upset the boat. He succeeded in fastening the young ladies to the boat and kept afloat nearly two hours, when he attempted to swim ashore and was drowned, it is supposed from chills. ~History & Directory of Yates Co., Vol II, Pub 1873, by Stafford C. Cleveland
