Marie E. Whorley, 68, of Bassett, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.

She was born in Henry County on Jan. 1, 1938, to Robert L. Turner and Iris Purdy Turner. She was preceded in death by her father.

She was employed at Fieldcrest Mills and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband of 40 years, Dewey Whorley of the home; two daughters, Susan Biege of Martinsville and Drema Turner of Collinsville; four sisters, Elva Haskins and Myrtle Turner, both of Collinsville, Mable McBride and Frances Lawrence, both of Martinsville; and five brothers, Billy Turner of Collinsville, Douglas Turner of Bassett, Wilbur Turner of Eden, N.C., Lloyd Turner of Ridgeway and Joseph Turner of Kentucky.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bassett Funeral Service with the Revs. Albert Robertson and James Wimmer officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hermon Church of the Brethren cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
