James A. Knowels, 86, of St. Augustine, Fla., died April 21, 2010 at the home of his daughter. He was born in Coleman, Ga., and had resided there since 1960. He was an aircraft mechanic and had worked for Grumman. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday with military honors at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Strickland; sons, James R. Knowels and Wayne N. Knowels, all of St. Augustine; sister, Estelle Knowels, North Carolina; brothers, Marvin Knowels, Delton, Fla., and Billy Knowels; Dublin, Ga.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
