Antonia Varela Espinoza, 86, a lifetime resident of Barstow, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004. She was born Feb. 11, 1917. Antonia was a homemaker for 59 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed crochet, knitting and doing crossword puzzles.She graduated from Barstow High School in 1936, and married Francisco'Pancho' Espinoza Sr. on Sept. 5, 1945. Survivors include her sons, Ronnie Espinoza and his wife Stella, Richard Espinoza and his wife Marina, Frank Espinoza Jr. and his wife Patricia, and Rene Espinoza all of Barstow; daughter, Pia Perez of Barstow; sisters, Cruz Mejia, Esther Torres, Carmen Rodriguez, Maria Flores, Mary Carabjal, Kay Takett, and Lucia Saiz all of Barstow; brothers, Jessie, Eddie, and Freddie Varela of Barstow, and Henry Varela of San Francisco; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco 'Pancho' Espinoza Sr.
