CRASH KILLS TWO FROM MILLERSBURG
Millersburg- Mrs. Ora (Jennie) McDowell, 67, and her stepdaughter, Miss Mary Alice McDowell, 47 both of Millersburg, were killed in a head-on collision with a pickup truck three miles south of Belvidere Ill., Sunday afternoon.
Ora McDowell, husband and father of the women, is in Highland Hospital, Belvidere suffering from shock. His condition is too serious for him to be removed at the present time.
Miss McDowell had been a teacher in the Millersburg school for 22 years.
Back from Vacation
The McDowells were enroute home to Millersburg from Long Lake, Wis., where they had spent a vacation.
Mrs. McDowell was born Feb. 20, 1890, in Clinton Township. She and Mr. McDowell were married about a year and a half ago. She was a member of the Benton Methodist church. Surviving with her husband are three brothers, Arthur Long, of Goshen, Chauncey Long of Foreman, N.D., and William Long of Cromwell, and one sister, Mrs. Jesse Hostetler of Lagrange.
Double Funeral
Miss McDowell was born July 13, 1909, in Clinton township, and had spent her lifetime in the Millersburg community. In addition to teaching she was associated with the Veda and Mary dress shop in Ligonier.
She was a member of the Rock Run Church of the Brethren. Her father is the only surviving relative.
Double funeral services will be held at the Yoder Funeral home in Goshen. The Revs Kenneth Long and Chester Carpenter will be in charge. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 o'clock this evening until the time of the service.
