COTTONDALE Hugh Milton Spencer, age 78, of Cottondale, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Blankenship Spencer.

Survivors include three sons, Kenn Spencer (Molly), Larry Spencer (Debra), and Bryan Spencer (Rita); one sister, Aletha Dunn; five grandchildren, Paula Ramsey (Michael), Laurie Giliam (Paul), Kim Spencer, Sarah Fountain (Matt), and Christopher Spencer; six great-grandchildren, Micah and Allen Burroughs, Spencer Ramsey, and Nicholas, Connor, and Joshua Fountain; special friend, Joyce Doherty and family; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Daryl H. Dewberry, Wendell Rigsby, Thomas Wilson, Fred Harris, Ray Lee, and Curt Darnell.

Honorary pallbearers are Glen Edwards, David Pate, Paul Huff, Joe Burroughs, James Lamb, and United Mine Workers of America International, District, and Local members.
