Dale was a factory worker. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan as well as the SIU-C Salukis and also Nascar.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, August and Lenora Maurer and Walter and Rose Pour.
He is survived by his parents, Eugene W. and Adele M., nee Pour, Maurer of New Athens, Ill.; a daughter, Nicole (fiance Ronnie Williams) Niebruegge of New Athens, Ill.; a sister, Lynette (Lyle) Sinn of Freeburg, Ill.; two brothers, Loraine (Donna) Maurer of Sparta, Ill., and David (Mindy) Maurer of New Athens, Ill.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's School Endowment Fund in Freeburg, Ill., or St. John's United Church of Christ in Smithton, Ill.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, and from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home, New Athens, Ill.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Freeburg, Ill., with Rev. Mark Reyling officiating. Burial will be at St. Augustine of Canterbury Cemetery, Hecker, Ill.
