William Henry Bessler passed away at his home in LaPaz at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday after an illness of nine months.
He was born in St. Louisville OH September 27, 1862, and had lived in LaPaz all his life.
He is survived by his widow, Elizabeth, three daughters, Mrs. Grace M. Herr of South Bend; Fayetta Dunn of Walkerton, and Mrs. Lura Dunnuck of South Bend; one son Foster Bessler of LaPaz, four half brothers: John, Fred, Sumerson, and Henry Sluss, all of South Bend; one sister, Mrs. Lottie McChessney of Plymouth; and ten grandchildren.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of South Bend and of the Woodsmen and Maccabees lodges.
Funeral services will be held at the Union Church of LaPaz at two p.m. Saturday; Rev. Zimans of South Bend and Rev. S.P. Strang officiating. Burial will be in the Fair Cemetery.
Mr. Bessler was united in marriage to Elizabeth Mummey on Nov. 11, 1883, and would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary had he lived until Nov. 10th of this year.
The body was moved to the Danielson Funeral Home and will be returned to the home in LaPaz this evening.
