"Tupelo Daily Journal" Tupelo, Mississippi Tuesday, October 23, 1956 'SIM RAPER, 78, DIES AT HOME IN MT. VERNON Simual Carrol (Sim) Raper, widely known Lee County farmer died at his home in the Mt. Vernon Community Sunday night just before midnight. He was 78. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Unity Baptist Church with the Rev. J. E. Rogers, assisted by Rev. Hugh Rakestraw, officiating. Burial will be in the Unity Cemetery with Smallwood Funeral Home of New Albany in charge of arrangements. Mr. Raper was a native of Lee County and had farmed in the Mt. Vernon Community for the past 30 years. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Everett Raper of Saltillo and Elage Raper of Tupelo; six daughters, Mrs. Gladys Roper, Mrs. Beatrice Young, Mrs. Lavelle Vinson, Mrs. Dewdrop Clayton, Mrs. Alice Bailey, and Mrs. Avinell Clayborne; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
