He married Mary Elizabeth Vanderwerker November 15, 1882 and had one daughter. His parents were Hosea and Ann Golden Baker. He was a mason, operated a grist mill, a store and was supervisor for the town of Saratoga. He was known for trapping eels in Fish Creek in a special contrapion and then halling the container out with a team of horses. That was in the time when eels migrated back up Fish Creek in large numbers. His father once owned a home where the King family now resides near the 4 corners of Bacon Hill.
