pORTSMOUTH— Rachel C. ''Ray'' Boyd, 81, of the 900 block of Darren Drive, died March 31, 2003 at home.

Born in Saxe, Va., she was the widow of Harold Eugene Boyd and a member of Fellowship United Church of Christ, Chesapeake, where she was a member of the Women's Usher Board.

She is survived by two daughters, Olivia Fullard (Isaac) of Charlotte, N.C., and Rachel Weston (James) of Portsmouth; two sons, Harold Boyd (Mary) of Columbia, Md., and Eric L. Boyd (Shirley J.) of Portsmouth; three sisters, Doris Brown, Mary Davis and Anna Davis;a brother, Wendell Haskins; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special friend and companion, Theresa Smith; and nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. She was predeceased bya son, Tony Boyd.

A funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Fellowship United Church of Christ by the Rev. Dwight Shanklin. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 9a.m. Saturday. The family will be at her residence.
