LOCUST Mrs. Rushing, 85, of 2049 Gold Rush Trail, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at her residence. She was born August 23, 1920 in Stanly County, a daughter of the late Beachum and Carrie Frances Miller Barbee.

Funeral service is 11:00 AM Friday, May 26, at Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with Rev. Alfred Hartsell, Elder Jared Smith, Elder David Anderson and Elder Rommie Williams officiating. Interment in Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Locust. The family will meet at the home, 2049 Gold Rush Trail, Locust, and will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland.

Mrs. Rushing was a member of Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church, and had worked as a pre-boarder at a hosiery mill.

Survivors include her sons, Larry Rushing and Grover Rushing; daughter, Frances Tucker, all of Locust; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rushing was preceded in death by her husband, Ivey Fay Rushing.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
