Obituary----Mrs. John Roe
Mary Jane Larison was born in Shelby County, Ind. Dec. 16, 1852. Grew to childhood and came to Taylor County, Iowa, when still a small girl, residing in rural sections until she moved to town with her family and her husband entered the Grocery.

In 1874 she was united in marriage to Mr. John Harvey [Howard] Roe, who survives to realize how favored was his lot and how great now will be his loss.

Deceased was one of nine children, five of whom survive. They are Rob’t F.[ranklin] Larison, Bedford, Mrs. John Stewart [Elvira], Forest Grove, near Bedford, Mrs. Milo Roe [Hattie May], Colorado, Mrs. Cassie [Lillian] Greer, Merle Junction, Ia.; Mr. Roy Larison in Iowa near Sheridan, Mo.

She was the faithful mother of five children, who remain to call her "Blessed":

George H., Colorado; Mrs. Etta Miller, Pickering, Mo., Mrs. Maude Barnes, Charles, and Mrs. Blanche Dougherty of Bedford. Four grandchildren and a number of other relatives, nieces, nephews and cousins add to her large circle of relations.

When about seventeen years old deceased made a public profession of faith in Christ as her Lord and united with the First Baptist Church of this place, remaining in their fellowship till her departure for the Sun-lit land of the soul.

She has been in declining health for some years past but rather hastily obeyed the summons beyond from her home in Bedford Friday, Nov. 8, 1918, the whole community being greatly surprised to learn of her decease.

Thus came to an end the earthly career of this good citizen, fond mother, faithful companion, earnest Christian, patient sufferer, having attained the age of 65 years, 10 months, 22 days.

Sister Roe has been a long time resident of the community and by her congenial spirit and womanly graces has added many friends to her list who will miss her from their midst.

To the grief stricken companion and family---we commend you to the savior of her youth and maturer years for comfort and consolation.
