Walter Ellis Gaither, 71, of Las Vegas, NV formerly of Winchester, Virginia died August 14, 2006 at Desert Spring Hospital in Las Vegas, NV.

Mr. Gaither was born October 27, 1934 in Winchester, Virginia the son of the late Arthur G. Gaither, Sr. and Margaretta Carter Gaither. He was a retired TSGT in the UNSAF where he served his country honorably for 23 years. During his military career he served as a medic in the UNSAF, He served a tour in Vietnam as well as stateside helping to care for injured military personnel. He worked in a teen drug-rehab hospital. He has touched the lives of many people with his care and commitment.

He was married to Bernice Gaither who preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters, Judith A. Scott, Carolyn L. Morris, and Gloria J. Gardner all of Winchester, Virginia; two brothers, Arthur G. Gaither, Jr. of Wichita, Kansas and Thomas L. Gaither of Waterford, Conn.; three children, Marilyn Niskanen, Roslyn Collins, and Marlyn S. Buckland all of Nevada.

Two sisters, Rosa Turner Small, Margaretta Gaither and Katherine Braxton; two brothers, Lewis G. Gaither and Robert Gaither, Sr. all preceded him in death. Rev. Carroll Carter will officiate the graveside service with Military Honors by Winchester VFW Post 2123 will be 11:00 am Saturday September 9th in Orrick Cemetery in Winchester, Virginia.
