Actor. His career spanned three decades, mostly in television, and is probably best remembered for his role as 'Dr. McKinley Thompson' on the ABC television medical drama "Breaking Point" that aired from 1963 until 1964. Born Paul Richard Levitt he earned a Masters Degree in Theater Arts from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). He guest-starred in numerous classic television western series, such as "Frontier," "The Rifleman," "Have Gun-Will Travel," "Zorro," "Johnny Ringo," "The Rebel," "Black Saddle," "Gunsmoke," "Bonanza," "Rawhide," "Broken Arrow," "Tombstone Territory," and "The Virginian." One of his most memorable appearances came in the very first "Gunsmoke" episode in September 10, 1955, as the first antagonist to outdraw and nearly kill 'Marshal Matt Dillon' portrayed by James Arness. He also appeared in other television dramas, including "Sheriff of Cochise," "Whirlybirds," "Straightaway," "Dragnet," "The Lawless Years," "Dan Raven," "The Lloyd Bridges Show," "Perry Mason," "The Fugitive," and "The Reporter." His film credits include "Demetrius and the Gladiators" (1954), "The Phantom of the Rue Morgue' (1954), "Kiss Me Deadly" (1955), "Tall Man Riding" (1955), "The Houston Story" (1956), "Monkey on My Back" (1957), "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" (1970), and "I Escaped from Devil's Island." He died from cancer at the age of 50. He was married to actress Monica Keating.
