BUTLER: John Charles Sneeringer, II, age 58, of Butler, passed away Saturday afternoon April 24, 2010 in Lexington Court Care Center following a long illness.

He was born September 21, 1951 in Ashland, the son of John Charles and Sneeringer, and was graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1969.

On May 20, 1983 he married Patsy Stallard who preceded him in death.

John served in the Air National Guard and was stationed with the 179th Airlift Wing in Mansfield.

For many years John was a Boy Scout Master and will be remembered as "Froggy".

John worked for several years at his father's business, True Value in Butler. John retired from work in 1995 when the store was sold.

A lifelong area resident, John was a volunteer EMT for the Worthington Township-Butler Rescue Squad for 25 years.

John was a whiz at professional sports statistics. He also enjoyed painting and listening to old radio shows.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Jay David and Andi Sneeringer of Lexington, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Vicki and Jay Pyles of Mansfield, two step sisters their spouses Peggy and Gene Mosier, and Linda and Jim Perry all of Mansfield, step son Fred Albert, a step grandson DeWayne Lynch and his son Parker of Florida, step father Dick Ross of Mansfield, his aunt and uncle Beth and Cliff Hinz of Mansfield, nieces and nephews Denise and Scott Komitau and their children Evan and Addison, Jamie and Jim Henry and their children Justin and Jordyn, Jennifer and David Schmucker, cousins Stacia and Bill Scott and their children Shealyn and Brynli, Russel Hinz and his daughter Jenny, special friends Danny and Sherral Bowers, and several other nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his father, and a step son Eddie Albert.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Don Stallard will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Oak Grove Memorial Park, where American Legion Post #535 will hold graveside military honors.

To honor John, contributions in his memory may be made to the Worthington Township-Butler Fire and Rescue Squad, and may be made at the funeral home.
