Shirley Jean Thames Smith was born on November 11, 1937 in Paige, Texas to Clifton & Thelma (Warren) Thames. She was united in marriage to Edgar Smith on August 28, 1954 in Houston, Texas. Shirley was a loving and devoted homemaker who enjoyed working in her yard. She was also an active member of Ridgeway Baptist Church where she faithfully worshiped and served her Lord.
Shirley passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at her home in Paige.
Funeral services were held on April 16, 2010 at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Paige, Texas with Rev. John Jones and Rev. Roger Osborn officiating. Burial followed in the Ridgeway Cemetery.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edgar Smith of Paige; two sons, Larry & Kim Smith of Paige and Gary & Mary Smith of Paige; nine grandchildren, Gary Wade & Heather Smith of Giddings, Stephen & Nikki Smith of Wichita Falls, Clifton Smith of Bastrop, Amanda Smith of Paige, Andy & Renay Smith of Lexington, Brandi & Steven Weusterhausen of Elgin, Kenon Smith of Austin, Will & Gail House of Cleburne and Sarah House of Cleburne; 17 great grandchildren; brothers & sisters-in-law, J.W. Smith, Linda Justice and Nancy Hoover as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and her church family at Ridgeway Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers were Gary Wade Smith, Stephen Smith, Will House, Andy Smith, Clifton Smith and Ken Perry.
