Vernonia, Or., May 1 - (Special) - Funeral services were held today for Mrs. Ellen L. Mills, who had been a resident of Vernonia for 30 years, and who died here Monday at the home of her son, Guy R. Mills, mayor of Vernonia. Mrs. Mills was born in Wisconsin March 6, 1851, and moved with her parents to Jacksonville, Ia., where she married and where seven children were born, Later the moved to ORegon and settled in Vernonia in May 1889. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Edna M. Mellinger, of St. Helens; four sons, Emery of Pomona, Cal.: Guy R., Thomas B. and Clive A., all of Vernonia; also one sister, Fannie Smith of Nashua, Ia., and two brothers, Fred Magoon of Nashua, Ia., and L. J. Magoon of Chico, Cal.

d/o Lowell Josephus Magoon and Rebecca Davis, she was one of 13 children. Ellen was born in Wisconsin. Her parents then removed to Chickasaw County, Iowa, where they arrived in 1856. She married Thomas E Mills and they had seven children. She sent her last years living with her son, Guy Mills, who was one-time mayor of Vernonia. She lived apart from her husband Thomas for many years. He died in Portland in 1915.
