Mr. Ricky Edward Yates of Hickory, N.C., died May 20, 2001 at Frye Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 4, 1962, in Banner Elk, N.C. to Ralph Edward and Evelyn Edmisten Yates.
He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Mr. Yates was chief probation parole officer in Catawba County, and was past president of the MS Support Group.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Bailey Yates; one daughter, Darby Lee Bailey Yates of the home; his parents Ralph and Evelyn Yates of Boone, N.C.; and his maternal grandmother, Irene Meyers of Banner Elk, N.C.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Randall D. Yates.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Rowe officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 until 3 p.m., prior to the service, at Lakeview Baptist Church.
