Trooper William Wright, was killed in the November 21, 1950 Canoe River train crash in British Columbia. The soldiers were on their way to the Korean Conflict when the two trains crashed head on, killing 17 soldiers, members of the 2nd Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery.

Son of Mr. John H. and Mrs. Leatha Bird (née Jarvis) Wright of Neepawa, Manitoba; brother of Herbert Alvin, Arthur John, Earl Jarvis, Mabel Reta, Mrs. Gracie Sage and Mrs. Eva Robinson.

Gunner William David Wright is commemorated on Page 81 of Canada's Korean War Book of Remembrance.
Gunner William David WRIGHT is also remembered with honour on the Korea Veterans National Wall of Remembrance in Meadowvale Cemetery, Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
There is a Korean War Veterans War Memorial which remembers with honour the 17 victims of the Canoe River crash; it is located in the Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
A Memorial Cairn stands at the Canoe River train crash site; it pays tribute to these Canadian soldiers. Their sacrifice is just as honourable as that of others who died in battle in Korea.
