While Violet was pregnant with Harold, the entire family got the Flu and Pneumonia at the same time.
Because of the sickness, Harold was born 3 months premature on November 30, 1918. He weighed only 2 pounds, and his parents did not think he would live. Because of that, they had him blessed the same day he was born.
Harold was so tiny that his grandmother, Hannah Elizabeth Hart, was able to fit him into a shoebox. She fed him with an eyedropper while his mother recovered from the Flu.
However, Harold eventually grew healthy against all odds and survived.
He went on to marry Helen V. Cottle in October of 1937. However, the two divorced a few years later. They didn't have any children.
Harold married Laverne Butterfield DePedro on August 2, 1943.
He was drafted in January of 1944 into WWII, and was wounded twice in the Battle of the Bulge. He was finally discharged from the army on November 21, 1945 at the Dibble General Hospital in California.
Harold died on August 21, 1972 at the age of 53 while fishing at the Hyrum Resevoir with some family members. He had layed down in his boat to take a short nap. When a family member went to check on him, Harold had died peacefully in his sleep, due to heart complications.
