Charlie E. Crites, 88, of Olney, died at 5:55 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at Burgin Manor Nursing Home in Olney.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney, with Jimmy Rue and Ben Woollard officiating. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery south of Claremont. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Crites was born Jan. 16, 1909, in Richland County, the son of Clarence and Ada (Madden) Crites. He married Ethel Marie Shake March 27, 1935.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Eureka Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, of Olney; two sons Kenneth R. Crites and his wife, Janice, of Olney, and Richard Crites and his wife, Connie, of Roanoke, VA; one daughter, Norma Umfleet and her husband, Jack, of Olney; one brother, Lee Crites, of Noble; two sisters, Innes Crites and Josphine Harmon, both of Olney; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Harry, Carl, Joy, and Noble; four sisters, Lela Gardner, Lucy Craig, Juanita Strange, and infant Verna Viola Crites, and three nephews.
