Rev. Wesley Webster, a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was educated at the Athens University, Athens, Ohio, but did not graduate. He entered the ministry in 1842, being admitted on trial as a member of the Ohio Conference on September 28, along with wife's brother-in-law Rev. Charles B. Warrington, Bishop Morris presiding. When the Ohio Conference grew large enough to divide, he became a member of the Cincinnati Conference. He preached for 28 years and among the places where he preached were, Marysville, (1845-46); West Jefferson; South Charleston; Jamestown; Hebron; Rushville; New Vienna; Davisson Chapel (now Broadway), Dayton (1860) and Miami City, Ohio. He joined the superannuated list in 1870. Wes and Sarah Jane had two children: A daughter, b. June 20, 1846, died at birth; Francis Asbury, b. Aug. 18, 1847, died Oct. 12, 1847. On his memorial is engraved: "An Abolitionist and a Prohibitionist. Praise the Lord!"
