Martha Celeste Rothrock was the fourth of nine known children of Joel Rothrock (1808-1879) and Susanna "Susan" Clodfelter (1814-1891), who married 25 Mar 1834 at Davidson County, North Carolina.

Martha first married to David Hinkle (1842-1866) on 17 Nov 1864 at Edwards County, Illinois. Martha and David were the parents of one known child, namely:

1. Olive May Hinkle (1865-1870)

After David died, Martha remarried to the widower Dr. Henry J. Weyl (1835-1911) on 16 May 1875 at Edwards County, Illinois. Henry had at least three children: Harry L. (1862-1903), George W. (1866-1933) and Clara A. (1871-1911) by his first wife, Rachel Wilson (???-1874).

In 1870 the widow Martha Rothrock Hinkle and daughter Olive were living with Martha's parents in West Salem. In 1880 Henry, Martha and the three children by Henry's previous marriage, Harry, George and Clara Weyl were living at Effingham Township, Effingham County, Illinois. In 1900 Henry, Martha and daughter Clara were living at Decatur Township, Macon County, Illinois. Martha said she was the mother of one, living (sic). In 1910 the family (Henry listed as a physician, father of four, three living), Martha (listed as mother of one, not living), and daughter Clara and her husband were living at Decatur City, Macon County, Illinois.

Obituary:
Mrs. H. J. Weyl died at 5:15 Sunday afternoon at the family residence, 410 East William street. She was seventy-two years old. She had been in poor health for several months, then last week she was stricken with paralysis, which resulted in her death. She was born May 27, 1839, at Salem. N. C., but when only four years old she moved, with her parents to West Salem, IL. In 1875 who was married to Dr. H. J. Weyl. They moved to Effingham and from there to Decatur. She is survived by her husband and three children, Dr. G. W. Weyl and Mrs. F. H. Needham of Decatur and Mrs. John Lind of Chicago. She also has a sister in Decatur. Mrs. Susan Siewers and one sister and four brothers, all of whom live in distant parts of the country. A short service will be held at the residence at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Friends may call from 10 to 12 o'clock. The services at the house will be private but a short service for friends will be held at the grave.

The funeral of Mrs H. J. Weyl was held at 2:30 Tuesday aftetnoon at the resdence, 410 East William street, Rev W. H. Penhallegon had charge of the service which was private owing to the serious illness in the family. Mrs C. C.Nicholson and Mrs Roy Essick sang "Rock of Ages "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere and "Lead Kindly Light. The pallbearers were H.W. McGee ,Gus Ahrens ,Charles Bachman, Albert Webber, R. Gould and John Patterson. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. H. H. Metz, Catherine Lehman and Emma Wiegand. Interment was in Greenwood.
