Rudy Tupa was born Dec. 18, 1909 in Grafton, ND, the son of Matt and Rose Tupa. He attended Mahnomen High School. He marries Dorothy Byers April 22, 1935, in St. Cloud, Minn. He owned Tupa Wholesale and was sheriff of Mahnomen County from 1963 to 1979. Dorothy Tupa died in 1984.
He married Creola Pirius Sept. 7, 1986, in Collegeville, MN. They lived in Red Wing, MN. After Creola Tupa died in 1991, he moved back to Mahnomen.
Survivors are his daughter, Helen Spaeth, Mahnomen; two grandchildren; brother Stanley, Mahnomen and sister, Evelyn Tupa, Minneapolis.
